Citation Analysis
Track every source AI uses to recommend your brand
Understand exactly which URLs AI assistants cite when mentioning your brand — across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overview, and Google AI Mode. Citation Analysis breaks down your sources into three views — Owned Media (your own pages), Earned Media (third-party domains citing you), and Outreach Opportunities (domains citing competitors but not you) — so you can optimize the sources that drive AI recommendations.

Key Benefits
Owned Media Tracking
See which of your own pages AI assistants cite most, ranked by Citation Score — so you know which content drives recommendations and which needs improvement.
Earned Media Intelligence
Discover which third-party domains cite your brand in AI responses — split into sources that mention your brand directly and other co-appearing sources — and track how earned citation coverage changes over time.
Outreach Opportunities
Find domains that AI cites for your competitors but not for you — giving you a prioritised list of outreach targets to grow your citation footprint.
How Citation Score is calculated
Citation Score reflects how prominently a URL appears across AI responses. It combines position weighting (URLs cited earlier in a response carry more weight) and citation length (longer cited passages score higher), then normalizes scores within each response so you can compare across prompts. Scores are aggregated per URL and per domain to power the Owned Media and Earned Media rankings.
Who Uses This
Review owned citations to identify underperforming pages that AI rarely cites, then optimize those pages to improve Citation Score and drive more AI recommendations.
Use earned media data to see which publications and domains AI trusts most for your brand, and prioritise media outreach to high-citation-value outlets.
Use the Outreach tab to find domains that AI cites for competitors but not your brand, then run targeted outreach campaigns to close the citation gap.
